Diets are smaller and lighter than most standard pucks. They work well with risers or for people with small hands or those that want a minimal puck for dancing or distance skating where sliding with hands down is not intended. 

Thick Diets and New Year's Eve Diets help to get your hands farther above the pavement. Give your puck risers some time off as you don't need them until you wear your pucks down to a normal thickness. If you are a larger riders don't dismiss these. The feel great on larger hands as the added height makes the smaller size work, and they are way more manageable than a large thick puck. Slide pucks attach to the palm of specially made slide gloves. They allow a rider to control falls, to stabilize themselves in corners, and when sliding to slow down. Helmets and pads are great during an impact, but pucks are the only preventative safety gear, they can help to prevent the impact from happening.
